Highlander Private Tours

Glencoe, Glenfinnan Viaduct & Jacobite Steam Train
from Inverness
This is a small private tour itinerary through the Great Glen that you can adjust to suit your wishes , if you wish to delete a place and add in another place or if you need more time in your favourite place then this can be done. You decide what you want, this is what Highlander Private Tours is all about. To be clear this tour does not include travel on the Jacobite Steam train.
Our first stop is in Foyers to go and view the Falls of Foyers as they drop 170 feet into the gorge below. You may see some red squirrels on your way to and from the falls.

Continuing our journey towards Fort Augustus we reach the Suidhe viewpoint at the top of Glendoe , the views down Stratherrick and Strathnairn on a clear day are magnificent.

We pass through Fort Augustus at the southern end of Loch Ness where you can see the Caledonian Canal.

After regaling you with the story, we stop at the Well of the Seven Heads Monument and go down to the well where the heads were washed before they were presented to the chief of Clan Macdonell. We then stop briefly at the Commando memorial just outside Spean Bridge where on a clear day you will get a wonderful view of Ben Nevis and the Nevis range, before continuing to Glenfinnan. The Glenfinnan monument stands at the end of Loch Sheil where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard in 1745.

We arrive in Glenfinnan in time to see the Jacobite steam train puffing its way across the viaduct where the scene for the Hogwarts Express in Harry Potter was shot.

Jacobite Steam Train
Travelling back from Glenfinnan to Fort William hopefully we will get a nice view of Ben Nevis , the highest mountain in the UK.
We stop briefly at Neptunes staircase , the series of lock gates where the Caledonian canal meets Loch Linnhe.
Our final stop is at the dramatic Glencoe visitor centre where we will learn of the betrayal of trust massacre, and we can see a reproduction of a 17th century dwelling. We return you to your departure point at the end of the day.
